Editorial Policy

This page sets out how this rating is put together, who decides what, and what to do when we get something wrong. It applies to every company page and every guide on this site.

Who Publishes This Rating

This rating is published by Window Gurus, a window repair and replacement company at 4730 Kenny Rd, Columbus, OH 43220, (614) 852-4608, windowrepair@window-gurus.com, Mon–Fri 9am–5pm. Materials are signed “Window Gurus team”.

We are not a neutral third party, and we do not describe ourselves as one. We work in the Ohio window market, and Window Gurus is itself listed in this rating. Our own listing is assessed on the same criteria as everyone else’s, and links to window-gurus.com are marked as sponsored. The full disclosure is on our about page.

How Companies Are Selected

A company can appear here for one of three reasons: we found it while surveying the Ohio market, a reader or the company itself submitted it, or it came up in public records for the trade. Nothing about that process is for sale.

To be listed, a company must do window repair, replacement or glass work, and must actually serve Ohio. Out-of-state companies are removed when we find them, regardless of how long they have been on the site.

How Companies Are Assessed

Every company is measured against the same criteria, published in full on our about page. Two rules govern how we fill those in:

Public record over self-description. Where a claim can be checked against a public source — Ohio Secretary of State, Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, city contractor registries, BBB and Ohio Attorney General complaint records, Google Business Profile, manufacturer dealer programs — we check it there instead of repeating what a company says about itself. Facts that can only come from the company, such as warranty wording or estimate practice, are labelled as such.

Say when we don’t know. Anything we could not verify reads “not verified”. We do not fill a gap with a plausible number, and an unverified field never counts in a company’s favour.

Each figure is published with a link to its source and the date we checked it. When we revise the criteria or their weights, the methodology gets a new version number so you can tell which version a page was scored under.

Advertising, Payment and Affiliate Links

No company can pay to be included, to rank higher, or to be removed. There is no sponsored tier and no advertising on company pages. Links to window-gurus.com are marked as sponsored because the publisher owns that business. If we ever add affiliate or paid links, they will be labelled on the page where they appear, and they will not affect any assessment.

Reviews and Quotations

We do not host our own review system and we do not publish anonymous testimonials. Where customer sentiment matters, we quote from public platforms with the author, the platform, a link, and the date the quote was taken. We do not apply review or rating structured data to companies we do not own.

Earlier versions of this site carried a batch of imported testimonials and rating markup for third-party companies. Those have been removed.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it. Write to windowrepair@window-gurus.com with the page and what is inaccurate.

We aim to respond within five business days. If a fact was wrong, we correct the page and update the checked date. If the correction changes the substance of an assessment, we note what changed and when at the foot of the page rather than editing silently. If the record supports what we published, we will show you the source we used.

If a Company Disputes Its Assessment

Any listed company can contest its assessment. Send us the specific point and any documentation — a certificate, a policy number, a corrected registration — and we will re-check it and correct the page where you are right.

We will not remove or soften an accurate assessment because it is unflattering, and we will not change a position on request. If you would prefer not to be listed at all, tell us and we will remove the page.

Updates

Company pages are re-checked and re-dated as the rebuild of this rating reaches them, and pages already rebuilt carry the date of their last check so you can see how current they are. We would rather show that date honestly than promise a review cycle we are not yet keeping.
